The Miami International Autodrome is a uniquely engineered street circuit with a permanent feel, thanks to its custom-built infrastructure around Hard Rock Stadium. Drivers face a mix of technical complexity and high-speed sections. The triple-apex hairpin at Turns 6–8 tests patience and precision, especially in traffic. The tight chicane at Turns 14–15—with its uphill entry, mid-corner crest, and downhill exit—can unsettle even the best setups. The back straight, one of the longest on the calendar, sets up high-speed battles culminating in the Turn 17 braking zone, one of the prime overtaking opportunities. Mistakes here are costly, but calculated aggression can be rewarded.
The Miami Grand Prix joined the Formula One calendar in 2022 after years of negotiations and design revisions. Constructed around Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, the layout weaves through purpose-built roads and parking infrastructure—without using any city streets—making it one of the most high-tech “temporary” circuits in motorsport. Designed by Apex Circuit Design, over 75 versions were evaluated before landing on the current 19-turn layout.
Beyond F1, the circuit has evolved into a multi-series venue, including Formula E’s Evo Sessions and newly added configurations announced in 2024 to support year-round racing. Its flashy setting near the MIA Marina and a faux Monaco-like vibe—with pool clubs and yachts trucked in for race weekend—has made Miami one of the sport’s most talked-about stops. The Miami GP isn’t just a race; it’s a spectacle built for speed and showbiz.
